Mountain AHEC, as part of the NC AHEC system, provides a variety of student services and programs throughout our sixteen-county area.
MAHEC’s ORPCE provides a variety of support services to health science students involved in
community primary care education. Support is also available for the precepting clinicians
and the respective health science schools. We assist medical, physician assistant, nurse
practitioner, and pharmacy programs with student placements in community sites, provide
housing at no charge for in-state health professions students and help with the evaluation
of community-based education.
MAHEC collaborates with the North Carolina Public School System and the North Carolina AHEC system to
offer minority workforce development and diversity training programs which can be tailored to meet
the needs of individuals and organizations. By starting early, we hope to encourage our future
generations to choose healthcare as a career.
