MAHEC’s project was begun when Kate B. Reynolds’ Foundation awarded MAHEC in July, 2004 with a two
year grant to assist non-profit primary care practices in establishing mental health services for
their practice patients.
The site was designed to provide CME for community preceptors, to create an arena for exchange of
ideas and experiences, and to disseminate information and program materials to persons involved with
the development of such programs.
This refers to the delivery of continuing education and/or clinical consultations via distance learning
and telecommunication networks through connections to fourteen hopsitals, ten health departments, two
residency programs, and the MAHEC hub.
MAHEC’s Department of Health Careers and Diversity Management provides ongoing multicultural education and
diversity programming designed for healthcare professionals and community stakeholders that address
workforce diversity and culturally appropriate care. Most sessions are provided in a ninety minute
lunch-n-learn format, at no cost between 11:30am – 1:30pm. Participants are free to bring their lunch
to these sessions.
