MAHEC’s OB/GYN clinic seeks to fill a full-time, benefited LPN/Medical Assistant. Primarily responsible for assisting care providers, maintaining medical records and coordinating patient activities. Assists with specimen collection, administration of medication, and patient exit interviews. Must have a current NC LPN license or be eligible for Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification.

MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST (Part-Time)

MAHEC's Division of OB/GYN seeks to fill a part-time (20 hours/week) benefitedTranscriptionist position primarily responsible for medical transcription to include transcribing dictated medical information for physicians, coordinating patient and physician correspondence, and maintaining forms, files, and databases. High school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of medical office experience, or comparable combination of both and transcription experience required. Must have strong background in Microsoft Word, knowledge of medical terminology, and ability to handle multiple, competing tasks. Certified medical transcriptionist (CMT) certification preferred. Experience with MEDIC software programs preferred. Hiring wage between $11.39 – 12.53/hour.

NURSE PRACTITIONER (Part Time) (Big Ivy, NC)

Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) is hiring a part-time (20 hours/week) Nurse Practitioner to work at the Big Ivy Health and Wellness Center which is located northeast of Asheville in the area of Barnardsville, North Carolina. The office will be open 5 days a week for 4 hours per day. There will be a full scope of family care without obstetrics or prenatal care. Provider should have experience in chronic disease management, preventative health and acute care.

Care will include acute illness, continuity care and teaching patient education as well as supervision of clinical staff and coordination of the clinic. Requirements include current NC RN license, NCBME licensure or eligibility for legal approval; certification of NCANP and DEA certification. Two (2) years experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, excellent clinical skills and medical knowledge, experience with Electronic Medical Records and basic computer skills also required. Salary dependent on qualifications.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT

MAHEC’s Division of Regional Services seeks to fill a full-time, benefited Program Assistant position for the Program Logistics Team. This position serves as a focal point for the coordination of event logistical activities. Primary area of support includes preparation of handouts, evaluation forms, certificates, and other program-related paperwork, audio visual equipment setup, teardown, and troubleshooting, and coordination of catering activities. It will also provide back-up support to other administrative teams as needed and may be involved in the logistical/administrative activities for grants and contracts. Position requires flexibility in schedule and ability to work evenings and weekends occasionally.

Successful candidates will have any combination of training and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or equivalent and at least one year of relevant work experience. Must have competency in Microsoft applications (Word & Excel), be customer service-oriented, demonstrate attention to detail, and have the ability to multi-task. Valid Drivers License required. Experience working with audiovisual equipment preferred. Experience in a team based environment preferred. Hiring salary range is $10.87 - $11.96/hour.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CONSULTANT

The Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) Center for Quality Improvement, in Asheville, North Carolina, seeks to fill a part-time (30 hours/week)position. Future potential to become full time.

Collaborating with other MAHEC QI team members, the consultant will assist medical office practices to:

· Implement electronic health records (EHRs);

· Optimize the use of health information technology (improve the quality of patient care);

· Employ models of best practice;

· Use rapid cycle quality tools and techniques (improve patient care, practice efficiency, patient experience and staff/provider satisfaction);

· Use outcome data monitoring and reporting to guide data-driven decision making;

· Prepare for various health care programs and/or certifications (pay for performance, Patient Centered Medical Home); and

· Develop capacity for population based health management.

The successful candidate will have any combination of training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in public health, health/business administration, nursing or a related field and at least one year’s experience in primary care. At least one year experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and/or one year experience with quality improvement in a health care setting required. The candidate must be a flexible team player, have proficiency in MS Office applications and valid driver’s license. Ability to work with little or no direct supervision, manage a large volume of work, communicate effectively in writing and/or verbally with groups and individuals and be a collaborative and contributing member of the MAHEC QI team is essential. Extensive local/regional travel required.

TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I

MAHEC’s Education & Information Technology department is seeking a Technology Specialist I position, responsible for support to users on a wide variety of hardware, software, videoconferencing and digital educational technology. Exemplary customer service skills required. Will work a flexible 40 hour work week and will also serve on an after-hours call rotation schedule. Four-year degree in computer science or information systems management, or two-year degree in information technology and/or computer related field and two years experience, or equivalent combination of education & experience required. Microsoft A+ certification preferred. Ability to become certified for Dell Premier Access required. Valid driver’s license required. Must demonstrate knowledge & experience with Windows desktop operating system, Microsoft Office, Internet, troubleshooting & repairing PCs, monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, & other related hardware. Hiring pay range is from $13.58 - $14.94/hour, depending on experience. Benefits include eligibility for health/dental insurance, paid time off plus paid holidays, life insurance, and retirement.
