CERTIFIED MEDICAL CODER/AUDITOR

MAHEC's Division of OB/GYN seeks to fill a full-time Certified Coder/Auditor position. Responsible for pre-billing audits on patient encounters, training providers and other staff on appropriate coding techniques, and supervision of Hospital Billing Specialist.

High school diploma or equivalent, two years of medical coding and auditing experience, Medical Coding Certification, and advanced computer skills required. American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) certification; experience in OB/GYN ambulatory and inpatient setting; Medic software & EMR; and previous supervisory experience preferred. The hiring range is between $29,910 - $32,898 annually.

DIRECTOR, SPORTS MEDICINE FACULTY POSITION

LPN/MEDICAL ASSISTANT-Part Time (Cane Creek Family Practice)

MAHEC’s Cane Creek Family Medicine Practice seeks a part time (20 hrs/week) Medical Assistant or LPN for fast-paced, growing practice. This position will rotate between the front desk and lab/clinical on an as-needed basis. Successful candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule 20 hrs/week with opportunity for increasing hours with growth of practice. Current Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification or eligibility or LPN license, strong phlebotomy/intravenous skills, CPR certification, and good computer skills required. One (1) year relevant experience preferred. Spanish-speaking skills and EHR experience preferred.

OB/GYN GENERALIST FACULTY

The Mountain Area Health Education Center, Division of OB/GYN, in Asheville, North Carolina has an employment opportunity for a full time OB/GYN Generalist. We are seeking an individual who has a dedicated interest in resident education. Responsibilities include mentoring and training residents in the MAHEC OB/GYN Residency Program, direct patient care, clinical research and 1:8 in-house labor & delivery coverage. Employment includes clinical appointment to the University of North Carolina Department of OB/GYN. Current or eligibility for North Carolina Medical License and Board Certification required. Experience in urogynecology and advanced minimally invasive gynecologic surgery preferred. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience and Spanish-speaking skills preferred.

WELLNESS CASE MANAGER

Must have ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English and in Spanish with patients, staff, and care providers. Please do not apply if you do not have the above language skills.
Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) seeks a full time, grant-funded Case Manager to provide case management, medication monitoring, self-management training/patient education, and supportive counseling as needed. Work involves interviewing clients and family members in order to complete a psychosocial assessment to determine appropriateness for the program or referral to other agencies, as well as supports and/or barriers to treatment. Also follows up with clients on a scheduled basis through community volunteers. Bachelor’s Degree in social work, counseling, or nursing and one-year of experience in related work, or equivalent education and work experience required. Master’s preferred. Familiarity of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment required. In addition, ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Hispanic cultures and direct work experience within a Hispanic community environment. Training and work experience in clinical environment and with health promotion and wellness serving the Hispanic population very desirable. A working knowledge of medical terminology and governmental and private community resources highly preferred. Must have computer skills (Windows, Word, Access, email) and valid driver’s license. 40 hrs/wk, M-F with occasional Saturday. Position is grant-funded with benefits.
